It continues to be a daunting task for Chris and I to be up against Canada's largest grocery retailer and the second wealthiest family in Canada. As many of you know, we are no longer producing YoPRO due to the financial losses suffered following numerous detrimental errors by our largest retail partner, Loblaw. Although YoPRO was also offered in a small number of other stores such as Pusateri's, Whole Foods, Marilu's Market, and
select Longo's stores, the revenue generated from these stores did not offset the additional debt we incurred to ramp up production and marketing in support of Loblaw's written commitments to include YoPRO in hundreds of their stores.
Despite efforts to work with Loblaw in correcting the many errors at their head office, we were left with no option but to file a claim against them in March 2010 for negligence, breach of contract, and intentional interference with economic relations. To our disbelief, Loblaw launched a
virtually identical product under their President's Choice brand in the spring of 2012. This lead us to amend our claim in August 2012 for misappropriation of confidential information and conversion.
For Chris and I, YoPRO was much more than just a product we created. YoPRO was our passion: a unique way for us to combine our love for food, our lifetime commitment to health and fitness, and our dedication to improving the quality of life of those around us. YoPRO was an opportunity to turn a
dream into a reality and offer customers of all ages and lifestyles an innovative, healthy treat with nutritional benefits.
Whether it was research and development, distribution, ingredient sourcing, or manufacturing; from the beginning we committed to working with the very best to ensure we could offer the finest products and maintain YoPRO's high standard of excellence. Working with experts in business development and strategic planning, YoPRO showed tremendous promise and our business was gaining traction, with opportunities to expand across the country, plans underway to launch our first soft-serve kiosk, and expand into the U.S.
